Introduction
First established in October 2016 by current co-owners Cassidy and yasu, Starlight is an online TCG focusing on Korean music that originally ran from October 2019 to January 2021! When we closed due to not having enough time or energy to dedicate to it anymore, we did so with the hopes that we may re-open at a later date; now, thanks to the help of a script that helps with general TCG management, Starlight was able to return in 2025!We are a full TCG with weekly and monthly updates as well as standard services, activities, and games that are often or commonly seen in all TCGs, all of which take place on both the site and our forums — so please make sure you make an account for both to fully participate in Starlight! We also encourage joining our Discord as we will sometimes post freebies exclusive to server members only, in addition to posting announcements and updates there first before we're able to later compile them and post on the site as well.
To be clear: all weekly/monthly updates will always be on the site only so everyone will have access to new releases, freebies, wishes, etc whether you join the Discord or not! Since site updates are set for a specific schedule however, anything that comes up between the most recent update and the one following it will likely be announced on Discord first, and then later announced in the regular update once it's posted.While most of our content will be K-pop centric specifically, we do accept all genres of Korean music if there is an interest in it from our members. Although many changes were made to the TCG since we last opened so that running it on our ends will be a bit easier (and hopefully, less overwhelming for our members as well), a lot has stayed the same too - so we hope both old and new members alike can enjoy Starlight!
STARLIGHT BASICS
Like mentioned above, Starlight posts weekly updates, specifically one every Friday! These updates will contain any news from the past week, a selection of decks that have been newly released for players to collect and trade, as well as any wishes and/or freebies we decide to give out.We also have monthly updates, which do not have a set schedule but will typically be on the 1st of a new month. Sometimes, though, we may combine them with a weekly update if the two days we'd post each of them on are close to each other; this is what we'd call a combined update!
Monthly updates in particular—and if posted on their own—won't usually have a deck release like weekly updates or when combined with one, but if there are any special decks ready to release then they may be included in one. Otherwise, these updates are mostly for news such as reminders or refreshing limits/other things for the new month - but there will sometimes be freebies and event cards! If we have any TCG events starting or ongoing at the time as well, we will also announce them in these updates.
UPDATE GUIDELINES
There have been some changes to how taking from updates will work since the original Starlight 1.0 run, which we've summarized below:- Commenting is no longer required! However, we do still encourage it as comments can be used as an archive/back up for your logs, in case they ever get lost or accidentally deleted (it's more common than you think!).
- Updates will no longer expire! As long as you were a member when an update was posted (and you were NOT inactive at that time), you can take any pulls, wishes, freebies, etc whenever you want - as long as you haven't already done so. If there ever IS a time restriction or something is time limited, we will mention it and those alone must be taken before the deadline or else you lose it forever!
While using the form is not required, we do recommend it as it will also update your card count on the site so it'll be more accurate and again, the automatic commenting helps archive a back up of your logs. You are always free to edit your picks if you make a mistake or something has changed and you still own the card(s), but do note that it will NOT automatically update your site logs; you will need to request a site log fix on the forums if you want it to be updated!
If you DO choose to use the provided forms, please remember that they can only be submitted ONCE. If you do not have all your choices ready to completely fill out the form yet, please wait until you do before submitting it! In the mean time, you can leave a manual comment with what you *have* taken so far, then fill out the form afterwards once everything is complete so it saves a copy to your site logs. (You will, however, need to edit your comment to remove the previous partial logs if you don't want it duplicated there!)
MEMBER STATUSES
Depending on when you join Starlight, you will receive a different member status! Some member statuses have bonus perks exclusive to just them which you will see mentioned around the TCG if applicable, in addition to their member card having a special pixel denoting their status.Players cannot obtain a different status than what they currently have as statuses are locked to specific periods/requirements! If a player had a member status that was time-limited, they do not get it back if they quit the TCG and rejoin at a later date. Once a player rejoins, they start fresh as a brand new player regardless of their previous status or activity!

Similarly: if they were originally a platinum member during 1.0, then they would receive platinum status during this run as well (instead of prejoin status) which allows them to take from all updates made during a 3 month period prior to the date they join the TCG again. This means if a platinum member joined Starlight 2.0 on TBA (which would be 4 months after we re-opened), they would get to take from any update made between TBA1 - TBA2, as TBA1 is the date 3 months prior to the member's join date.
On the other hand: if a member was originally a platinum or regular member during 1.0 but joined 2.0 during our prejoin period, they would be upgraded to prejoin status as well! Any 1.0 members who joined after 2.0 prejoin is over, however, will be given platinum status instead, including those with regular member status previously.
And of course, brand new members who are joining Starlight for the first time ever will get regular member status automatically, unless they joined during the 2.0 prejoin phase - then they will also get prejoin status!
